Daily Wonder Scope & Sequence Overview

Daily Wonder is aligned with the BC Ministry of Education learning standards, which emphasize core competencies and conceptual understanding across all subject areas. Because these competencies are shared internationally, Daily Wonder is used successfully by families around the world. While reporting requirements vary by location, the knowledge, skills, and capacities developed through Daily Wonder align with the expectations of most educational jurisdictions.

How Daily Wonder Organizes Learning

Daily Wonder is organized into month‑long thematic units. Each unit integrates multiple subject areas, allowing students to meet learning standards through story, hands‑on work, artistic expression, discussion, and practice.

Rather than teaching subjects in isolation, learning unfolds in a connected way that:

  • Introduces concepts developmentally
  • Revisits skills over time
  • Deepens understanding through repetition and application
  • Supports both academic growth and whole‑child development

This integrated structure reflects how learning naturally unfolds and allows families to document learning across subjects with clarity and confidence.

Grades Overview

Kindergarten

Kindergarten in Daily Wonder is grounded in rhythm, imitation, sensory experience, and social-emotional development. Learning unfolds through seasonal themes, stories, songs, movement, practical activities, and guided play. Rather than formal academic instruction, the curriculum focuses on the conceptual foundations of literacy and numeracy, self-regulation, cooperation, and a sense of belonging.

Daily Wonder’s Kindergarten program aligns with the conceptual layer of the BC Ministry of Education learning standards, supporting early development in language, numeracy, science, and social studies through developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Families are encouraged to follow their child’s readiness while building strong foundations for future academic learning.

Grades 1-3

In Grades 1–3, learning remains closely connected to imagination, story, and artistic activity while gradually introducing more structured academic work. Strong foundations in reading, writing, and mathematics are developed through integrated lessons that combine movement, visual representation, oral language, and hands-on experience.

Science and social studies focus on the natural world, community, and local environment, supporting curiosity and observation. Skills are introduced gently and revisited often, allowing children to build confidence and competence over time.

Grades 4-7

In Grades 4–7, students begin to meet the world with greater objectivity and independence. Academic work deepens across all subject areas, including history, geography, science, and mathematics. Students engage with increasingly complex concepts, research, and problem-solving, while continuing to learn through integrated, experiential lessons.

Artistic work, discussion, and reflection continue to support understanding, critical thinking, and meaningful connection to the curriculum.

Math Scope & Practice

Daily Wonder follows a Waldorf‑informed approach to mathematics that balances conceptual understanding and ongoing practice.

  • New math concepts are introduced in immersive, focused units.
  • Skills are practiced regularly throughout the year to strengthen understanding.
  • Parents are guided on what skills to practice each month.
  • Families choose a math workbook or printable resource that suits their child and reporting needs.

This structure ensures comprehensive coverage while allowing flexibility to meet individual learners where they are.

Reporting & Documentation Support

Daily Wonder is designed to support homeschooling families with clear documentation. Standards inform the scope and sequencing of the curriculum, while instruction remains developmentally appropriate and integrated. Because subjects are integrated, learning may be reported across multiple subject areas from a single unit of study.
